Bill Stewart

April 17, 1939 — August 7, 2015

William Howard "Bill" Stewart of Lake Wylie, SC went to be with his Heavenly Father and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 7, 2015. He passed peacefully surrounded by prayer and the love of his family. Bill was born April 17, 1939 in Charlotte, NC to Hattie Irby Stewart and John Howard Stewart. His immediate family includes his wife of 50 years, Sylvia Hastings Stewart; his daughter Suzanne Hill and her husband, Mark, of York, SC; his son, John Stewart, of Lake Wylie, SC; a sister, Beverly Baker, of Oak Island, NC; a brother, Robert Stewart, of Plantation, Florida. Bill was blessed with one grandchild,Isaac Stewart. Bill was a graduate of the Class of 1957, William A. Bass High School, in Atlanta, GA. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served for 4 years. Bill often said that he joined the Navy to see the world, but only made it as far as Virginia Beach, VA. After the Navy, Bill returned to Charlotte where he met the love of his life Sylvia in Sunday School at Nevin Presbyterian Church. They went on to marry and he completed his bachelor's degree in accounting at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Bill began his career in accounting at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. and then went on to work for KMG Minerals in Kings Mountain, NC for 20 years, eventually serving as president of the company as well as president of the North Carolina Brick Association. In 1998, Bill was able to realize his dream of owning his own business in the community in which he lived. He opened Lake Wylie Auto Care out of his love of automobiles, combined with a desire to run a business that would benefit his friends and neighbors in Lake Wylie. He ran Lake Wylie Auto Care until 2014, never tiring of serving his customers with whom he had formed close and lasting relationships. Bill's interests were in many ways all-American, from his love of John Wayne and Elvis, to classic cars and cowboy boots, but he may be best remembered for his allegiance to a greater kingdom, a Heavenly Kingdom. Bill's love for Jesus Christ began as a small child from the faithful example of his grandmother and lasted until his last breath on this earth. We all remember Bill for his jovial spirit, his constant smile, and his willingness to help others. However, he would want to be remembered most for living as a faithful disciple of his Lord and King, Jesus Christ. * For those that wish
