CHARLOTTE - Ervin Edward Bowen passed away on January 28, 2022 at the age of 84 years old. 

He was born May 7, 1937 in Duplin County, North Carolina and was the son of the late Rommie and Mary Sumner Bowen. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Maylon and sister, Shirley.

Ervin served for over eight years in the North Carolina Army National Guard and in the United States Army Reserves. He spent most of his life as a truck driver and truck mechanic for Thurston Motor Lines and Brown Transport and retired with Dixie Trucking. Ervin enjoyed traveling here and abroad, especially to the mountains, as well as cooking, gardening, attending car shows and working on cars.

Ervin is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 34 years, Jeanie; three children, Lynn, Beverly, and Emmanuelle Reo; grandchildren, Mandy, Braxton and Peyton; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Jackson and Cohen; and by his siblings, Wayne, Janice and Travis. 

A memorial service, with military honors, will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Sharon Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 920 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC.
