Gladys Virginia Hair

Gladys Virginia Hair, a beacon of love and warmth, was born on October 14, 1931, and passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, in Matthews, NC. She was the daughter of the late James Reid and Jenny Bell Benfield. She was known for her sweet smile, a reflection of her kind heart and nurturing spirit. Gladys always had a smile to share, bringing joy and comfort to those around her. 

A devoted Christian, Gladys played a significant role in the spiritual lives of her family, leading several of her grandchildren to the Lord. Her unwavering faith was a guiding light in their lives. Family was paramount to her; she cherished every moment spent with them and was a major part of their lives in countless ways. As a loving mother, she enjoyed fostering connections and making memories that would last a lifetime.

Gladys was a homemaker known for creating dishes that brought her family together around the table. Always ready for an adventure, she was the first to say yes to any outing or family gathering, making every occasion special.

She is survived by her beloved daughters, Marilyn Sides, Vicki Stacks, and Cindy Sutton and daughter-in-love, Dolly Jackson. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Christy Cyphert, Rogina Ginn, Aron Billy Jackson III, Ann Marie Jackson, Ricky Stacks, Sherry Lanham, Erin Smith, Rebecca Sutcliffe, Emily Watson, and Adam Sutton. Additionally, she is blessed with 16 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and another on the way.

Gladys is also survived by her sister, Carolyn Baker, and her brother, Billy Benfield, as well as her step-children  Buddy and Linda Hair.

Gladys is preceded in death by her sons in Heaven, Aron Billy Jackson Jr. and James Donald Jackson, as well as her two husbands, Aron Billy Jackson and Sidney Ray Hair.

Her family and friends will forever remember her as a loving matriarch, whose presence enriched their lives and whose memory will continue to bring smiles for generations to come.
