Helen Brown

August 15, 1923 — July 19, 2025

Charlotte

Helen Brown, a cherished matriarch, passed peacefully at her daughter's home in Charlotte, NC, on July 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 15, 1923, in Memphis, Tennessee, Helen epitomized the spirit of the quintessential southern belle. With her gracious demeanor, she never left the house without her lipstick and a beautiful skirt, impressing all those who crossed her path.

Helen's life was woven with love and devotion, primarily as a proud homemaker and military wife. She poured her heart into creating a warm and inviting home, a sanctuary where family and friends gathered. Her dedication to her family was her proudest accomplishment, as she made every holiday special and ensured no one left her home without feeling welcomed and well-fed.

She loved to shop and relish the joys of dining out, where laughter and stories were shared. A passionate member of her garden club, Helen nurtured not only her beloved garden but also the relationships that blossomed within her community. Her interests extended to genealogy, reflecting her deep-rooted connection to family and heritage.

Helen is survived by her devoted daughter, Barbara Kellas, her loving grandchildren Brian Stevens, Sarah Kellas, and Matt Kellas, as well as multiple nieces and nephews who cherished her guidance and affection throughout their lives.

Helen will be lovingly remembered for her strong, independent spirit and the countless memories she created. Grandson Brian was her steadfast support, caring for her around the clock, demonstrating the deep bond forged by love and commitment.

Predeceasing her are her husband, Lewis Brown, who left this world in 2009, her grandson Joshua Kellas, and son-in-law Danny Kellas. She is also reunited with her three beloved sisters, Annie, Vera, and Evelyn, and her brothers, Claude and Kenny.

As we gather to celebrate her remarkable life, a graveside service will be held on July 25, 2025, at Lafayette Memorial Park & Mausoleum in Fayetteville, NC, where Helen will forever rest. She leaves behind a legacy of love, warmth, and cherished memories that will endure in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
