Herbert McLeod Jr.

Herbert Wendell McLeod Jr., also known as Bud, passed away on May 21st, 2025.

Bud was born to Annette Drake McLeod and Herbert Wendell McLeod Sr. on October 23rd, 1954 in Dothan, Alabama. He had three siblings: Cynthia McLeod Mims , Andy McLeod, and Max McLeod . Bud grew up in Iron City, Georgia, and made many memories there with family and friends, which he remembered fondly throughout his life, bringing him great joy.

To those who knew him best, Bud was an extremely humble man that loved his family and friends beyond measure. He was an accomplished student throughout his life, and had a passion for learning that was never lost. He was a man of great character who was easy to be around, and had a fun sense of humor.

He attended college at Valdosta State University and the Medical College of Georgia, obtaining a Doctorate of Medical Dentistry in 1990. He met the love of his life, Trish, and got married to her in 1996. His two sons Ian and Evan soon followed. Together, Bud and Trish ran his dental practice together until Bud retired in 2014 after 22 years of practicing dentistry. Bud was a loved and respected dentist in Gastonia and Charlotte, known for being kind and gentle; he greatly enjoyed time with his patients and loved practicing dentistry.

Bud was preceded in death by his father Herbert Wendell McLeod Sr., his mother Annette Drake McLeod, and his mother in-law Zelda Kelley. He is survived by his wife Trish, his sons Ian (Rebecca) and Evan (Fiancé Lily Queen), sister Cynthia Mims (David), brothers Andy McLeod (Wendy) and Max McLeod, nieces and nephews Courtney Mims, Lauren Mims, Jason McLeod (Meagan),Ben McLeod (Jessica), and Emily McLeod Griffin (Will).

Bud’s Memorial Service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church in Christ Chapel, 4519 Providence Rd, Charlotte, NC 28226 on June 14th, 2025 at 12 noon, followed by a reception in the fellowship hall.
