James M. Kimbrell, affectionately known as Mike, was born on August 3, 1959, in Charlotte, NC, and left this world on November 22, 2025, at Atrium Health Hospice and Palliative Care Union, after a courageous eight-year battle with cancer. He lived a life that was marked by kindness, humor, and an unwavering dedication to his family and friends, creating a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.

Mike enjoyed a fulfilling career as the Wholesales Fuel Dealer Business Manager for Circle K convenience stores, proudly serving the east coast region. His commitment to his work was unmatched, but it paled in comparison to the devotion he showed to his family and loved ones. He was a man who always put others before himself, finding joy in the happiness of those around him. He had a great sense of humor that warmed the hearts of many, making anyone feel welcome and at ease. A true conversationalist, Mike never met a stranger and could brighten anyone’s day with a funny story or a kind word.

In his personal life, Mike was known for his love of cooking, particularly desserts that he shared during family gatherings and occasions big and small. His culinary creations were more than food; they were tokens of love. Cookouts and family gatherings were cherished events, where laughter and stories were abundant, and connections were deepened. As someone who relished spending time outdoors, Mike enjoyed working in his yard and exploring second-hand stores. His mornings often began at the local McDonald’s with a group of friends and the McDonald's crew with whom he shared countless tales—endearingly dubbing their gathering the “Liars Club,” which he proudly claimed the title of president. He often spoke about how much he enjoyed spending time with his friends and the McDonald's staff.

Mike's spirit of adventure took him beyond his local community; one of his proudest accomplishments was taking five of his nine siblings on a trip to Las Vegas, a journey filled with laughter and memories that will last a lifetime.

Mike leaves behind a loving family, including his brothers Todd (Danny), Ricky (Candy), Jerry, Eddie (Terri), Butch Kimbrell, and sisters Sherri Sanders, Dianne Helms (Ray), and Joyce Russell, along with many cherished nephews and nieces who will forever remember his warmth and the joyous moments they shared.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Girlena Kimbrell, his sister Susie Outen, and his nephews Daniel Kimbrell, Will Kimbrell, and Wade Eason. Mike's absence will be profoundly felt, but the impact he made on the lives of his family and friends will continue to resonate in their hearts.

As we remember Mike, we celebrate a life well-lived—a life characterized by love, laughter, and unwavering loyalty to those he held dear. His legacy is a reminder to all of us to cherish our loved ones, to make time for laughter, and to always lead with kindness.
