James Michael Rink

James Michael Rink passed away on November 30, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, loyalty, and creativity that touched the lives of many.

He was born on March 8, 1980 to Richard Rink and the late Marie Rink in Charlotte, North Carolina.

James was a multifaceted individual who dedicated his life to various passions. He described himself as a meditation practitioner, researcher, author, and video producer, reflecting a commitment to the sharing of knowledge. His educational journey was marked by notable achievements; he earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a focus on finance, along with an associate degree in horticulture technology. As an Eagle Scout, he exemplified leadership and dedication from a young age.

In his professional life, James utilized his horticulture degree to design and create gardens, merging his love for nature with his creative talents. He became a proficient horticulturalist, exhibiting a profound understanding of plants, including their Latin names and the conditions necessary for their growth. His passion for horticulture and gardening was matched by his love for various forms of dance, which he practiced in classes, reveling in the joy of movement and expression.

Family was central to James's life. He created cherished memories during yearly family beach trips and took immense pleasure in helping his father, Richard, maintain the yard and decorate their homes for the holidays. James's commitment to family extended to his nieces and nephews, as he consistently attended their birthday parties, sports events, and musical performances, embodying the role of a supportive uncle with enthusiasm.

James's personality radiated warmth and humor. He was known for his kindness and loyalty, traits that earned him a large circle of friends. Those who knew him often remarked on his vibrant spirit; he had a laugh that could light up any gathering—often serving as the life of the party.

Among his proudest accomplishments was the establishment of a non-profit organization dedicated to helping others, showcasing his desire to make a positive impact on the community around him.

He is survived by his father, Richard Rink; his sister, Kathleen Carlisle (Aaron); nieces Olivia Tussel (Casey), Madeline Launius (James), and nephews Simon, Neville, and Ian Carlisle, as well as niece Sabina Carlisle. He is also survived by his two great-nieces Eloise Tussel and Roshana Launius. He is preceded in death by his mother, Marie Rink.

James' legacy of kindness, loyalty, and joy will continue to inspire those who knew him. His impact on his family and community will not be forgotten, and he will be remembered with love and affection. A memorial service will be held in January, with further details to be announced at a later date.
