John William Groat, 87, of Matthews, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2016. John was born in Detroit, Michigan July 16, 1928, and was the son of the late Laurence James Groat and Grace Marie Malo Groat. His immediate family includes his wife, Donna S. Groat; his children, Kimberly (Kim) Myers, Kreg Scott Groat, and Kevin Stuart Groat; his brother George Clare Groat; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. -
