Roy Kevin Moore 61of Charlotte North Carolina went home leaving this world peacefully on Saturday December 28, 2019 after a long extended illness.
Kevin was the fifth of five “ Moore boys” born April 14, 1958 in Charlotte NC to Rose Nell and Clyde Parks Moore. As he would say one of the few remaining native Charlotteans. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School where he developed many lasting friendships, and participated in a number of theatrical productions to include his favorite, portraying Benjamin Franklin in the musical”1776.” He was appointed to the North Carolina School of the Arts for his accomplishments in theatre. He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He enlisted in the Navy September 25, 1980 and completed training in the Naval Nuclear Power School and served as a Surface Ship Nuclear Propulsion Plant Mechanical Operator on the Dwight D Eisenhower. He was honorably discharged September 24, 1986. He loved to say he had seen the world and it was mostly water.
For years Kevin worked for Duke Energy ,then entered the information technology field in programming for Microsoft, Bank of America and First Union , before pursuing information technology security programming. He encountered his Lord and committed to following Him and was actively involved with his church body where he met his wife. Kevin married Elizabeth Fink Moore on December 6,1997.
He left work to focus on the love of his life ,his family ,specifically his adopted son George Robert Sothea Moore cherishing times spent together as a stay at home Dad. He loved every second spent as a father and actively participated in George’s school life, mixed martial arts and sports activities.
Kevin was a loving and loyal family member, husband and friend. He committed whole heartedly to his parents, brothers, their spouses, nieces and nephews and actively maintained high school friendships throughout his life while developing many more new friendships that he cherished. Kevin loved words, and music and developing what he called “ the soundtrack of life” in lyrics he created for any situation. He loved his country, being from Charlotte, the Carolina Panthers, cooking and entertaining ,wine, craft beer and going to Walt Disney World.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Moore, his son George Moore of Charlotte and his brothers, Donnie, Wayne and Aubrey Moore and their spouses Nancy, Reen, and Sarah Moore of Concord, Lake Norman and Charlotte NC and Patti Moore of Bangkok Thailand along with his many nieces and nephews.
