Lidia Angelica Vasquez

December 26, 1940 — November 12, 2022

The family of Lidia A Vasquez is saddened to announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother.

Lidia was born in Raymondville, Texas on December 26, 1940. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ramon and Delia Vargas; her husband, Jesus Vasquez, Sr.; infant son, Jesus Vasquez, Jr.; brother, Cresencio Vargas; sisters, Sulema Vargas and Delia Vargas Moreno.

Lidia is survived by her siblings, David Vargas, Ramon Vargas, Jr., Joe Vargas, Mary Garcia and Irene Harris; her children, Michael (Deanna) Vasquez, Sr., Joe (Linda) Vasquez, Jesse (Shiela Gamus) Vasquez, Anna (Orlando) Gonzales, Paul Vasquez and Patrick (Cindy) Vasquez; as well as 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Though we mourn her loss, we were blessed with her amazing presence for many years, and we are comforted by knowing that she has found much deserved peace and rest in her eternal, heavenly home. Her faith was strong and unwavering. Before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina where she was a member of St. John Nuemann Catholic Church, Lidia was a parishioner of San Luis Catholic Church in Yorktown, Texas, where she was a member of the Guadalupanas, a Catholic Marian Society devoted to spreading the love of Mary, the mother of Jesus. She faithfully prayed the Rosary, not only during times of hardship and struggle, but also as a regular sign of faith.

In all things, Lidia worked hard to take care of her family. She will be remembered as a strong, loving mother and grandmother. She loved cooking and baking for her entire family. She was even responsible for making the tamales at the annual San Luis parish festival in Yorktown, Texas. She loved listening to music and enjoyed dancing as often as she could. Above all else, she loved her family deeply and would express that love by constantly worrying about every single thing that her children, grand children and great grandchildren did on a day-to-day basis. Not even the most mundane event was too small for her to express her love through worry. As her time to depart from this earth drew near, LV, as she was affectionately known, prayed that her family would be at peace upon her passing. She didn't want anyone to worry anymore, as she had already done enough worrying for everyone.

To our dear mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, we say our final farewell to one of the strongest women we were ever blessed to know. Our lives are great because of you. Rest in eternal and abundant peace.
