Michael Porter Brunson, 67 from Charlotte NC, passed away peacetully at home on February 14, 2023, having fought a courageous battle with liver cancer, with his wife, granddaughter, and brother by his side,holding his hands.
Michael was born on July the 5th, 1955 to Morris (Pete) and Agnes (Livingston) Brunson in South Carolina.
As a boy Michael had the privilege to live and go to school in many different places, because of his father's position with Firestone. He lived in Buenos Aires, Argentina as a boy and then later as a teenager. He graduated high school from the Oak Ridge Military Academy in Oak Ridge, where he found his love for serving his country. Michael enlisted in the Army in 1973 doing his basic training at Fort Jackson, SC; then his artillery training at Fort Sill in Oklahoma; and then was stationed out of Fort Hood in Texas where he went to Germany until getting honorably discharged in 1977. He always said his deepest regret was not staying in the Army. He truly lived each day as a patriotic soldier for his country.
Michael worked at Lyf-Tym Building Products for 30 years until the housing market fell. He then became a caregiver to Lisa's son, Joel; so she could continue to work. He loved to read, most of Michael's books were on history, where he had a passion for World War I and II. He was a very devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, and he would hate it when the NFL season would come to an and. He loved the beach trips that he and Lisa would take to Charleston and Fernandina Beach in Florida. Michael was a plain and simple person. He often said a great date night wasn't going out but just watching a movie at home and ordering a pizza.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife of 21 years, Lisa; her children, Amber Villegas,John Trumble and Joel Trumble; and Step-daughter, Tracy Evans. Michael loved his three Grandchildren with all his heart whom he shared with Lisa; Autumn Trumble, Silas Trumble and Alexis (B) Villegas. He will be missed by his brothers;
Mark (Lynn) Brunson and Matthew (Natalie) Brunson; Aunts, Carol Jones of Asheville and Diane Livingston of Fernandina Beach, FL; along. with cousins, a nephew, and nieces.
