Nina Kalapuch, affectionately known as Nini, was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warm spirit and compassion touched all who knew her. Born on August 15, 1945, in Asuncion, Paraguay, Nina's journey through life was marked by her vibrant personality, infectious sense of humor, and a deep love for her family and friends.
In her young adult life, Nina worked at a pharmacy in Buenos Aires alongside her best friend, Elsa Perez. The stories they told bring in to question just how much ‘work’ was actually done!
At the age of 19 on October 31,1964, she married the love of her life, Eduardo Kalapuch. Shortly after, they left Argentina to begin their new life in New Jersey. It was here she embraced the role of a dedicated stay-at-home mom, pouring her heart and soul into raising her three cherished children Adrianne, Fabian, and Silvana. As the children grew older, Nina began her own cleaning service business in which she took much pride. Her faithfulness and dedication to this business continued even after her move to Charlotte, NC in 1996.
Nina found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life—she loved reading her Bible, spending time at the beach, engaging in amateur gardening, and sharing laughter with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her heart was always open, and her warmth made everyone feel welcome.
Nina's life was enriched further by her deep faith in God, her love for friends and family, and enjoying life's little moments. She loved watching the Gaither Homecomings, and Jimmy Swaggart, however she really got excited over seeing the latest episodes of Live PD. Her meticulous sense of fashion reflected her stylish personality, and her quirky sense of humor made so many laugh.
Nina departed this world unexpectedly on June 9, 2025, in Matthews, North Carolina. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eduardo Kalapuch, as well as her siblings: Basilio Szczerba, Maria Hawryluk, and Vladimiro Szczerba, along with her parents, Mateo and Olga Szczerba. While her absence leaves an irreplaceable void, her spirit continues to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
Her legacy lives on through her family, truly her pride and joy. She is survived by her three children: Adrianne and Jorge Rudko, Fabian and Dawn Kalapuch and Silvana and Ron Lucyk, her nine grandchildren: Jeremey and Lindsay Rudko, Steven and Kat Rudko, David and Oksana Rudko, Michael and Deanna Rudko, Charles Lucyk, Matthew Kalapuch, Andrew and Megan Kalapuch, Jacob and Isabella Lucyk, and her only granddaughter Mikayla Kalapuch, and her twelve great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Jakobi, Azariah, Solomon, Salem, Gabriella, Roman, Amos, Atticus, Timothy, Joseph, and Anakin.
Nina Kalapuch, a remarkable woman with a sweet and compassionate heart, will be remembered for her unwavering love and her commitment to the Lord.
