Sadie Edwards Breneman, 80, of Charlotte, died on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Little Flower Assisted Living. Mrs. Breneman was born on May 6, 1937, in Cerro Gordo, N.C., to the late Daniel E. Edwards and Nettie Strickland Edwards. In 1957, she married James C. Breneman and they celebrated 41 years of marriage. Sharing fellowship and hospitality was a hallmark of Sadie's life. She took every opportunity to reach out to family, friends, and acquaintances to express words of comfort and support. Sadie loved her ten grandchildren and was active in their lives. Gardening was her hobby and she found solitude working in her rose gardens. Mrs. Breneman was a member of Carmel Baptist Church and enjoyed participating in the Widows' Ministry. She helped as a caregiver in the infant nursery for over 5 years. In addition to her parents, Sadie is pre-deceased by her husband, James C. Breneman, her brother, Daniel P. Edwards, and sister, Dorothy Edwards Coleman. Mrs. Breneman is survived by her four daughters, Tammy B. Lansden (Charles D. Lansden), Debbie B. Horacek, Tracy B. Ashby (Donald R. Ashby, Jr.) and Kimberley B. Grey (Alexander R. Grey), ten grandchildren (Jamie, Hunter, and Chance Grey; Joseph, Christopher, and Emily Horacek, step-granddaughter, Kristina Horacek Prozesky and her son, Aiden James Prozesky; Grayson and Jordan Ashby; Sarah and James Lansden).Mrs. Breneman is also survived by three brothers: Clyde Edwards (Bonnie), Tom Edwards (Mary), and David Edwards (Cindy), and two sisters: Martha Worthen (Cliff) and Libby Peacock (Ed), and numerous nieces and nephews. A "Celebration of Life" Memorial Service will be officiated by Rev. Bill Smith on Monday, January 8, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Carmel Baptist Church (Uptown Auditorium), 1145 Pineville - Matthews Rd., Matthews, NC. Dr. Clay Barnes will officiate a private burial at Evergreen Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Little Flower (Sadie Breneman's Benevolent Fund), 8700 Lawyers Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. The family would like to thank the staff at Little Flower Assisted Living, her physicians, and her caregivers for the compassionate care that Sadie received. - -
