Scott McDonald Kivett, born on August 24, 1968, at Union Memorial Hospital in Monroe, North Carolina, left this world on October 1, 2025, at University Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. A proud business owner and operator of Scott's Sanding Service, Scott dedicated his career to installing and refinishing hardwood floors, often regarded as a craftsman who took immense pride in every project.

Scott’s life was a testament to the values he held dear—his loving and caring nature, strong work ethic, loyalty to family, and his unwavering faith in God. He was a man of conviction and courage, a true go-getter who not only chased his dreams but encouraged those around him to do the same.

Throughout his life, Scott found joy in simple pleasures, such as creating cherished memories while spending time with family. He often reminisced about beach trips filled with laughter, worshipping the Lord in song, and sharing the Word of God. Christmas Eve was particularly special as he derived immense joy from preparing food for loved ones, a tradition that underscored his dedication to family.

A sports enthusiast, Scott loved playing slow pitch softball and would often share fond memories spent on the ball field. He found solace and happiness in music, frequently singing and playing guitar, not just alone, but alongside family. His playful spirit extended to his enjoyment of driving fast in sports cars and immersing himself in various projects, always with a willing heart to tackle whatever came his way. His love for animals further demonstrated his nurturing side, where he extended his care beyond family to the creatures he adored.

Scott's education at Sun Valley High School paved the way for his entrepreneurial journey, as he diligently completed college courses aimed at enhancing his business acumen. His proudest accomplishments included not only his successful business but also bringing his family together in the church, highlighting the importance of faith and community in his life.

He is survived by his fiancée, Renee Mosier, who cherished every moment they shared. His brothers, Randy Kivett and Billy Gregory (brother-in-law), along with his loving sister Beth Gregory, who were constants in his life, providing a supportive foundation. His nieces, Jennifer and Allison Kivett; his nephew, Blake Gregory; his nephew, Brenden Gregory; and his stepson, Timmy Brand, and stepdaughter, Nicole Little-Leonard, carry forth his legacy. He is also remembered fondly by his aunt, Judy Myers, cousin, Amy Long, and is survived by one grandchild, four great-nieces, and two great-nephews, who will always treasure the stories and love of their beloved Scott.

Scott was preceded in death by his father, James Kivett, his mother, Libby Kivett, and his grandparents. Their absence leaves a profound echo in the hearts of those he loved, yet it is Scott's enduring spirit that will continue to guide and inspire all who knew him. His remarkable journey through life exemplified not just the power of love and faith, but the importance of kindness, making the world a better place one act at a time. He indeed was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, always willing to lend a hand. His memory will forever remain a beacon of hope and love for his family and friends.
