Tommy Walker McAlister,Sr., 80, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord April 27, 2014. A native of Mecklenburg County, He was a 1953 graduate of East Mecklenburg High School. Following 40 years of service, Tommy retired as a Grounds Supervisor with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. He was a life-long member of Ebenezer ARP Church where he served as a deacon, elder, and superintendent of the Sunday school. Tommy was a wonderful husband, father, and proud "pawpaw". His immediate family includes his wife Ruby McAlister; his children, Tommy W. "Chip" McAlister, Jr. (Kim), Todd McAlister (Julie), and Traci McAlister; three grandchildren, Tommy W. McAlister, III (Megan), Benjamin McAlister (Sarah), and Logan McAlister; his brothers, Andy, Jerry, and Roger McAllister; and his sisters, Peggy Furr and Jean Furr. Memorials may be given to the Ebenezer ARP Church cemetery fund or donor's choice. -
