William Lawrence Abbott Jr. was born on March 4, 1955, and departed this world peacefully on July 28, 2025, in the comfort of his home in Matthews, North Carolina, surrounded by his loving family. A cherished father, grandfather, and friend, William leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and warm memories that will be treasured for generations to come.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Teresa Coleman, and son-in-law, Harry Lee Johnson, both of whom have been a source of immense pride and joy for him. His heart overflowed with love for his three wonderful grandchildren: Charity Jo Coleman, Wesley Scott Coleman, and Bruce Coleman, who, along with his wife, Sarah Coleman, reside in Charleston, West Virginia. Each of them carried a special place in his heart, and he took great pleasure in watching them grow and thrive.
William was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Margaret Abbott, and his beloved wife, Janie Abbott. The loss of these figures in his life shaped him into the devoted and caring man we remember today.
Throughout his life, William exemplified kindness, patience, and an unwavering dedication to his family. He was a pillar of strength and love, an ever-present support for those who needed it most. His gentle spirit touched everyone around him, and his laughter echoed in the hearts of all who knew him.
Please join us as we gather to honor the memory of William Lawrence Abbott Jr., at a later date at Phat Daddy's cafe in Stallings. We acknowledge a life well-lived, full of love, family, and cherished moments. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
