William Evan
Treat
March 26, 1939 – April 2, 2026
McKee Road Baptist Church
2:00 - 3:00 pm (Eastern time)
William “Bill” Evan Treat passed peacefully from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, April 2, 2026. He truly had a Wonderful, Ambitious, and Full 87 years of life! Bill was born on March 26, 1939 in Elmira, NY to Basil and Edith Treat. He was part of the local cutest baby contest in 1941. Bill put his faith and trust in Jesus at a young age while listening to Pastor Charles E. Fuller on the Old Time Revival Hour explain that Jesus is the One Way to Salvation. Bill grew in his walk of faith as he continued to listen to good preaching. Bill graduated from Southside High School in 1957 in Elmira, NY. He attended Wheaton College (IL) where he graduated in 1961 with a degree in Sociology. While in college Bill participated in ROTC, Varsity Wrestling, and Letterman’s Club. Bill served in the United States Army from 1962-1967. His service included time in Texas and Germany. He became a Captain on September 14, 1965. Exactly 3 years later on September 14, 1968, Bill was promoted to Husband when he married his sweetheart Susan Kenney. Bill and Susan were married for 57 and 1/2 years. They enjoyed traveling, spending time together, and their children and grandchildren. When Bill was asked about having a lasting marriage, he responded with the scripture, “And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken” (Ecclesiastes 4:12). Bill’s interests included wrestling, playing the trumpet, acting, reading, and Jeopardy! Some of his favorite memories were meeting Ronald Reagan, George H. W. Bush, and Mike Pence. Bill’s greatest meeting was when he saw his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, face to face on April 2, 2026. Bill loved to share his Christian faith and liked to ask those he met, “Will I see you in Heaven?” He had the assurance of an eternity in Heaven one day because he knew Jesus had died on the cross and rose again, and he had asked Jesus to come into his heart. If you have never asked Jesus to save you, would you do that now? This will give you the assurance of a beautiful home in Heaven for all eternity. As Bill would say, “See you here, there, or in the air!”
Bill was preceded in death by his precious daughter Amy, and his parents. He is survived by his lovely wife Susan; his brother Dave (Vicki) Treat; his children Melanie (Shawn) Kell, Marcy (Cory) Lawrence, David Treat, Tim Treat; his grandchildren Schuyler (Mallory) Kell, Haley Kell, Reagan Lawrence, Ryler Lawrence, and many friends. Bill’s family is very thankful for the wonderful care he received from the Hospice team of Via Health Partners.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, April 11th, 2 pm at McKee Road Baptist Church, 4300 McKee Road, Charlotte, NC 28270 with Pastor Alex Adkins officiating.
